I have enjoyed Osprey Tacos for a long time because they’re different. While Taco Libre is our go-to for our weekly Taco Tuesday with friends, Osprey Tacos never disappoints and I have my favorite menu items. A bonus to coming to Osprey Tacos for lunch is that it’s directly next door to Old Coast Ales, so enjoying unique tacos AND good local beer is easy. Have you been?
Here’s my rundown on Osprey Tacos and planning a nice afternoon on Anastasia Island. If you have any questions about visiting the island or need additional lunch recommendations in St Augustine, please leave a comment or send us a note. We’re always happy to share more!
Osprey Tacos Menu
The menu at Osprey Tacos is very simple. It’s a combination of traditional and unique street tacos. The standard options you’d expect on the Osprey Tacos menu are called Street Tacos, while the ones with a unique St Augustine twist are called Boulevard Tacos (it’s located on Anastasia Blvd). While the menu has stayed pretty solid over the years, the Chef’s Specials update often.
Menu Highlights at Osprey Tacos
My absolute favorite item from the Osprey Tacos menu is the Cheeseburger Taco. This delicious nibble includes ground beef, American cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion and pickles, with ketchup and mustard. It’s literally everything you expect on a cheeseburger. My other favorite is the Cuban taco with pulled pork, prosciutto, swiss cheese, pickles and mustard. There are more great tacos on the menu, but these two are my go-to tacos.
Other Osprey Taco menu highlights my family likes are:
- The St Augustine – shrimp w/ pickled onion
- Pork Fried Rice – taco with Asian flare
- The San Diego – steak and french fries
And of course other menu items are great too. I like that each time we go to Osprey Tacos we always try at least one new type of taco.
Kids Menu
Osprey Tacos doesn’t have a specific kids menu, but the VERY FIRST thing on their menu board is the Kids Quesadilla, which can be adjusted to suit tastes. I think street tacos are such a great option for family dining because they are smaller portions already and then you can update each thing you order to taste. Having two kids myself, this is why we have always enjoyed Mexican food or Mexican-influenced foods: flexibility. Our kids love coming to Osprey Tacos because they love diverse foods, but I know that’s not the case for every family.
Dietary Requirement Options
One of the best vegetarian tacos I’ve ever had was here at Osprey Tacos on Anastasia Blvd. The Sprout taco has fried brussel sprouts, cheese and a delicious sauce. There are other options too, and it’s not difficult to turn most of the vegetarian taco options into vegan options.
If you need to be gluten-free when you order, be sure to ask about cross contamination and which items may already be prepared in a gluten sensitive way.
Drinks at Osprey Tacos
There’s not a lot of options for beverages at Osprey Tacos, but they’ve got a few. Water is always available, and then they have a cold case of beverages. They do not serve cocktails, have cold bottles and cans of beer as well as soft drinks. If you’re looking for a freshly poured beer, directly next door is Old City Ales. They actually share a large mutual dining area outside so you can sit anywhere and enjoy tacos and beer from next door.
Bonus: it’s not a drink, but Osprey also has a Hyppo Ice Pops freezer in the taco shop. If you’re not familiar, Hyppo Pops are our locally made fresh popsicle and they’re delicious.
Need to Know for Osprey Tacos St Augustine
I will say, Osprey Tacos is one of the most low-key dining spots in St Augustine, on the island or downtown. The only place comparable in being so low-key is A1A Burrito Works on Beach Blvd. It’s very chill whether you’re dining on site or taking tacos to go. Food comes up fairly quickly, but it’s not FAST food. Osprey Tacos always tastes fresh and made to order.
Seating Arrangements
There is a small stand-up counter inside at Osprey Tacos, but lots of seating outside on the patio. It has picnic tables and high tops, and is shared space with Old City Ales next door. It’s 90% covered with additional sail shades to block sun and wind. There are high powered fans on the patio as well, so even in peak summer, it’s still breeze even if it’s hot.

Restaurants and Attractions Nearby
Osprey Tacos is located on Anastasia Blvd very near the Bridge of Lions. You can see the spires of downtown from the patio. It’s a long walk to downtown, but if the weather’s nice it’s not bad. On the same block as the Osprey, you’ll find several other dining options, a flip flop shop and several hotels:
- Old City Ales
- Odd Birds Cocktail Lounge and Kitchen (love it)
- Sarbez! – grilled cheese and arcade games
- O’Steen’s – cash only, famous for shrimp
- VOCO Hotel – and IHG hotel
There is also several fun things to do nearby. Downtown St Augustine is just over the bridge, and then around the corner you’ll find the St Augustine Lighthouse, the Alligator Farm and then you’re nearly to Beach Blvd. You’ll be driving by Osprey Tacos as some point for some fun St Augustine activity, so stop in!
